Biography
Sherry Lawrence was born in Calgary, Alberta on January 17, 1984. She started skiing at the mere age of two, on the slopes of the 1988 Olympic Mountain, Nakiska. Her parents thought that skiing would be a great family sport for the weekends. Sherry had a lot of fun in the Nancy Greene Ski League, but spent most of her time playing in the snow.  At the age of 14, Sherry joined the National Alpine Training Center Ski Team, (NATC), and that year she won the Canadian Juvenile Championships in GS, and went to Whistler Cup for Team Canada.

At the age of 16, Sherry joined the Alberta Ski Team, and at 18, the Canadian National Team after she graduated with honors from the National Sport School.  She has always had a very competitive drive and a hard time excepting anything less than perfection.  That is what Sherry thinks keeps her so determined in skiing.  She won’t be satisfied until she is the best!

Sherry's best result came on a blistery day in Val d’Isere France in December 2005 when she finished 11th and secured her spot for the 2006 Olympics in Torino.  The experience was incredible and has inspired her to keep chasing her dreams. After having been to her first Olympics, she desperately wants to attend the 2010 Olympics and be in the fight for the gold!

The Canadian Ski Team is coming off of its most successful season to date.  Last year between the men’s and women’s teams, they secured a total of 14 medals and are hoping to repeat that feat this season!  The team is also the largest that it has ever been with 44 athletes from the Development through the senior teams.
